Learn To Adjust Your Fitness Dial

Learn To Adjust Your Fitness Dial

The way you approach fitness & health should not be a light switch.

Fitness & health is never on or off.

When you think about it that way, there are only two extremes that are vastly different from each other.

When your fitness & health is off, there needs to be a big push to turn it back on. And sometimes, that’s the hardest part.

Instead, I want you to think of your health & fitness as a dial that can be turned up or down, but never off.

A dial allows you to choose your level of commitment at any time.

At times you want to crank the dial up. And other times, you might need to turn it down to prioritize other things in your life. And that’s okay!

When your dial gets turned down, it’s so that you can only get the basics done.

That might mean focusing on 2-3 workouts per week vs your regular 3-5.

It might mean having an extra cheat meal throughout the week to cope with stress.

Whatever the case, the dial can be turned down, but should never be turned off.

So, how do you gauge for yourself when the dial needs to be turned down? And how far?

A good rule of thumb is to self-assess your current routine and lifestyle.

Ask yourself this question: “What is the least amount of commitment I can make right now without going backwards?”

That’s it!

Keeping the dial not too far from the middle, either up or down, will always mean you’re progressing, because you are never stopping!

And the best part is the realization of where you are on your own personal dial, so that you can turn it up when the timing is right!

Here’s the takeaway: not too much, not too little, but just right.

Finding the sweet spot for yourself may be tricky.

That’s where we come in as coaches.

We provide that extra layer of accountability on both sides of your dial, so that even when your dial is down, we’ll help you stay where you are without sliding backwards.

Personal training at our West Ashley gym is a fantastic way to keep your dial in the middle.

Your coach will know you, know your goals, and can adjust accordingly to keep the dial in the middle for you.

If your fitness & health right now is like a light switch that keeps turning on and off, it’s time for you to make a change.
